Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on the evaluation and treatment of children with health problems resulting from injury, disease, or congenital conditions, with emphasis on movement dysfunction, sensory motor issues and psychosocial needs.
The OT assist children in regaining vital mobility skills after surgery or injury, preventing deconditioning through monitored exercise, teach use of assistive devices such as walkers and wheelchairs, assess developmental needs of children starting birth, assist children who have chronic disabilities become more functionally independent.
